You Are Not Broken: Carrying Too Much and Learning to Set It Down

For a long time, I carried the weight of everything, responsibilities, expectations, unspoken rules, and old stories I thought defined me. I told myself I had to keep going, keep achieving, keep holding it all together. Somewhere along the way, I started to believe that if I stumbled, I was broken.

But here’s the truth: ‘You are not broken’. You are carrying too much, and it’s okay to set it down.

Healing isn’t about erasing pain or moving in a straight line. It’s about pacing yourself, honouring your emotions, and recognising that growth often happens in cycles, forward, sideways, sometimes even backwards. And that’s exactly the point.

How I Help People Set It Down

Through my coaching programmes,1:1 or in groups,I guide women to:

  • Identify what they’ve been carrying alone
  • Explore patterns that keep the weight piling on
  • Learn practical tools to offload, reframe, and move forward with clarity

This is story-led work, starting with where you are, what you’ve experienced, and the narratives you tell yourself. One client shared:

"Working with Beth has been life-changing. I realised I was carrying burdens I didn’t even know were mine, and now I feel lighter, more in control, and ready to take on life with confidence."

If you feel overwhelmed, know this: it’s not about being “broken”,it’s about learning to carry less and live more fully. Healing is rarely linear, but it’s always meaningful. The first step is often the bravest: letting yourself put down what doesn’t belong to you.
